Christmas and New Year's came and went. Every year I'm amazed at how quickly these holidays seem to fly by. I could have sworn that it was just Thanksgiving, like, a week ago!
I make New Year's resolutions every year. And every year, I promptly forget all about them after approximately a day and a half. This year, however, I'm trying so hard to work on actually completing these resolutions. It'll be tough, but I think that I can do it.
I'm definitely not going to post my entire list of resolutions, but I would like to share a bit of it.
This year, I'm going to really focus on learning to love myself-- for who I am. Part of this includes not comparing myself to everyone I see. It's just a normal thing for me to do, I think. I see someone else and immediately think, "Oh, she's so much prettier/smarter/less awkward/etc than me". This is what really tears me down.
I found a quote a little while ago that I just fell in love with.
"If I ask what you love, the answers will likely roll off your tongue. You love to read. You love to write, you love birds, music, tattoos... Your mom, your brother, sister, daughter, best friend, your dog. How long do you think you could go on and on before you said, 'I love myself'?"
It's so hard for us as human beings to admit that we love ourselves. It's seen as being narcissistic and vain. But is that the right way to go about thinking of it? Because in loving ourselves, it will bring us happiness and a peace of mind for the rest of our lives.
A word that I've chosen to focus on for 2015 is 'Be.".
Be myself.
Be a good friend. Student. Daughter. Sister.
Be an example.
I'm really striving to be the best that I can be in this time of my life.
And I'm going to work so hard this year to BE.
